Domestic Preaching Baptisms

By Bro. Mark Carr, Link Brother for Refugee Support

As we shared with you in the November 2023 CBMA/CBMC Newsletter, by the hand of the LORD, many Christadelphian families who have fled Africa as refugees have found themselves spread throughout North America.  Some are blessed to be near existing ecclesias, but sadly, others are in isolation.  Brothers and sisters, ecclesias and Bible schools have responded to the call to provide pastoral care to those who make a new life so far from the home they know.

Four students were baptized in June and were all in the same class over the last two years in classes done over Zoom.  All the students attended regularly on Sunday afternoon on a weekly basis.  The classes were done in English, Swahili and French.  We had tremendous support from Bro. Benoit Mukendi of Toronto West, Bro. Jack Bizo Tchumbula of Quebec and Bro. Abedi Ndjelekulu of Kilcoy, Guyana to translate in Swahili as Sister Marcelina speaks only Swahili but slowly learning English.

Following a good confession of their faith, Azola and Jonathan were baptized into the saving name of Jesus Christ, our Savior in the morning on June 16, 2024 in Montreal, at the Archibald’s house:

Sis. Azola Inga Nomake – daughter of Bro. Jack and Sis. Vuyo Tchumbula.

Bro. Jonathan Cyril Mulumba – son of Bro. Christophe and Sis. Elizabeth Mulumba

It was a meeting done in Swahili, French and English.  Bro. Dale Andrews gave the words of exhortation.  There were two friends who joined the wonderful occasion.

Following a good confession of their faith, Sis. Marcelina and Bro. Daudi (sister and brother) were baptized into the saving name of Jesus Christ, our Savior in the morning of June 23, 2024 in Quebec City at a hotel.  Marcelina and Daudi are the children of Sis. Halinw Mari Kalenga and our late brother Kalenga Mulimbi Malungu.

The baptism was done at a hotel and the memorial meeting was at Sis. Halinw’s home, and was done in Swahili and French.  Bro. Jack gave the words of exhortation.  There were few friends of the family who joined us for the wonderful occasion.
