This Is Your Bible
thisisyourbible.com is the primary internet preaching tool of the CBMA/C and ACBM, and is widely used in the areas serviced by the CBM-UK. The site is designed to attract visitors and encourage them to register for courses with a focus on first principle Bible teaching and to provide ample material in addition to the available courses to supplement this goal.
Christadelphian tutors are automatically connected to students to monitor their progress through their coursework with a view to connecting them to ecclesias and baptism. The personal connection between tutor and student is vital to the success of this preaching effort.
Some Statistics to Start
What’s New?
Ask any of our members who have been involved in teaching correspondence courses by post in the past and one hears the same complaint, “My students register for a Bible course and maybe do one or two lessons, and then I don’t hear from them again or worse, they register, you mail them a set of lessons and they do nothing.”
As it was for the paper correspondence courses so it is with their online counterparts. However, one of the virtues of online courses over paper is that there is much less wastage of paper and money for postage.
We are going to try something new on thisisyourbible.com which we hope will help to encourage students to complete their initial course. The trial of this method will be done first with the “Exploring the Bible” course and will, initially, affect only those Students and Tutors in North America and the Caribbean. If our new approach works well for us, then we’ll see if the other areas using the course would like to follow suit.
What is the new approach? It’s not an earth-shakingly new idea but really a simple one. Instead of the current system of “paragraph” answers to the questions associated with a lesson, each entered into a free-form text box, we will present the students with multiple-choice answers to a lesson’s questions which are self-correcting. There will be one free-form text box at the end of each lesson’s question form, designed to promote interaction between the students and their tutors.
To give you an idea of the new format, here’s a comparison of the old look to the new one:

We hope that the new format will encourage students to complete lessons in a more timely manner. They won’t have to wait for a tutor to correct the lesson as the multiple-choice questions will correct themselves should an incorrect choice be detected.
This format will be online, God willing as of September 15th of this year.

Unexpected Preaching Method
On February 10th of this year, sister Jill Andrews, of the Cambridge, Ontario, Ecclesia, died. Her obituary made loving reference to her life as a Christadelphian and her hope in the Kingdom and faith in the resurrection.
Some time later, a young woman named Grace, who lives and works in Waterloo Ontario, came upon sister Jill’s obituary and was very impressed with its description of a sincere faith involving the Kingdom of God and the resurrection.
An internet search lead her to thisisyourbible.com, and after reading much of our online literature, she looked up Kitchener-Waterloo in the site’s Contact page and found my phone number. Her first words to me, after introducing herself, were, “Did you know Jill Andrews?” I was amazed at our subsequent conversation! Since then, we have been having weekly first-principle sessions and she has become a regular at our Wednesday evening Ecclesial Bible Class over ZOOM.
She recently asked, “What do I have to do to wake up at the Resurrection when Jesus comes back?” Wonderful!
This story illustrates how a witness even in the unusual form of an obituary in conjunction with the in-depth information on thisisyourbible.com can be used by our Lord to bring a good and honest heart to him and the hope of the kingdom.
Let’s resolve to take sister Jill’s example to heart and bear faithful witness in every aspect of our lives even to the very end!
