Quito Trip Report – March 2026

The prevailing reality in Quito at present is the advancing age of many of our members. A significant number are facing the challenges of declining health, whether through chronic illness, recent treatments, or the general effects of aging. During my visit, I was able to spend time in most of their homes. It was reassuring to see that, despite difficult circumstances, they are receiving thoughtful care. Many are supported by family and have sufficient resources to meet their daily needs. Even so, conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, cancer recovery, or cognitive decline bring real and ongoing hardship—regardless of external support. continue reading

Activities in Latin America

Though COVID is still around, our ecclesias in Latin America have returned to more normal functioning. We are thankful to report four convivencias were held in 2025 with Costa Rica, El Salvador, Ecuador and Panama sponsoring events. There was wide international participation from Latin America, and most of our teachers and leaders were local brothers and sisters. Much like our Bible Schools in North America, these events serve a number of purposes: spiritual instruction, fellowship, friendship and a place where our young people can meet each other. With the emergence of the internet, many of the relationships (younger and older) which begin at a convivencia continue afterwards through regular communication. continue reading

Ecuador Bible School – August 2025

From the moment we arrived at the airport, the excitement was palpable. After many days of anticipation, we were finally in Quito, Ecuador, ready for the Bible School gathering. The journey had taken six hours, with a stopover in Colombia, but the joy of what awaited us made it all worthwhile. We had begun preparing a week earlier by reviewing the topics to be discussed, and when we landed, our brothers were there at the airport to welcome us warmly. continue reading
